Customer Rating: Summary: good bookComment: I bought new (not used) book. It's nice, pages are not too thin and pictures are really bright.
There is enough space on pages if you'd like to write/add your own notes :-) I like the cover, it does seem to be made for repeated flipping!
This edition has Efficient preparation section that was missing in some previous years. I think it's a very good section that was out for several years.Customer Rating: Summary: Helped me score >240Comment: Use this book as an outline - after every question in USMLEWorld, look up the section in First Aid and write down any details not in the book. After going through enough questions, you'll find that everything you need to know will be there. Also, use sticky tabs and mark each section so you can flip to any factoid you want within seconds.Customer Rating: Summary: great book- but not for the kindleComment: I bought this in both the hard copy edition and the kindle edition so I'd always have it with me, and because some of the text is in graphic form, you can't increase the font size- so you can't read it. amazon gave me a refund for the kindle edition, and i'm just using the paper copy.Customer Rating: Summary: MehComment: This book is completely over hyped. While it has a majority of the actual topics on the USMLE step 1, if you used this book open note, you would probably get a 40%. It's good for pharmacology and all right for biochemistry and micro. Other than that you must supplement this book yourself like crazy if you are going to use it. Focus on Goljan more than any other source, he knows what he is talking about 100%. I started to panic a little because I did not make a full pass through this book before the exam, and found out that it did not matter at all. The questions that I ended up not knowing on the exam I checked with First Aid after and they were not even in there. Med students seem to love this book, but I found it to be a HUGE disappointment compared to what I was told about it.Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent bookComment: I have the First Aid 2008, and the 2010 edition has definitely made some improvements! The biochemistry section is much heftier than it was before, and more of the information has been assembled into tables. It's much easier to go through now. Also there are way more pictures than before, which is also helpful.
